LawPay Year in Review 2025

In 2025, payments continued to play a vital role in how law firms served clients and kept their practices running smoothly. Firms balanced the responsibility of managing cash flow and compliance with clients’ growing expectations for a fast, simple payment process.

Throughout the year, LawPay remained focused on supporting the legal community by strengthening the payment tools firms rely on every day, with an emphasis on reliability, flexibility, and ease of use. These efforts were shaped by the real-world needs of legal professionals in 2025, including:

  • Confidence in trust accounting and compliance, without added complexity

  • More flexible ways for clients to pay, aligned with modern expectations

  • Smoother payment experiences that reduce friction for both firms and clients

  • Clearer visibility into payments and more control over reporting

  • More predictable cash flow and faster access to funds to support day-to-day operations

Every enhancement was guided by a simple question: Does this make it easier for firms to accept payments with confidence and stay compliant without adding extra effort?

A defining year for LawPay

2025 marked an important milestone as LawPay officially became 8am™ LawPay, bringing the trusted legal payments solution into the broader 8am platform. This change reinforced what LawPay has always stood for—secure, compliant payments built specifically for legal professionals—while creating a more cohesive ecosystem of tools for managing firm finances and operations.

The momentum behind that transition was reflected in how firms used LawPay throughout the year, as well as in the product updates and recognition that followed.

What we focused on in 2025 to support how firms get paid

This year’s updates were designed to make LawPay feel familiar, dependable, and easy to adopt, supporting your existing billing and payment workflows without requiring changes to your current operations.

Secure, flexible payments built for legal work

In 2025, LawPay continued investing in the fundamentals that matter most to legal professionals: compliance, reliability, and choice—while expanding how and when firms get paid.

LawPay helped firms:

  • Accept payments that align with trust accounting requirements, so compliance is built in

  • Give clients more flexibility at the point of payment with options like Pay Later, allowing clients to finance legal fees over time

  • Access funds faster with Next Day Payments, improving cash flow without added steps

  • Reduce friction throughout the billing process, making it easier for firms and clients alike

These improvements reinforced LawPay’s role as a dependable payments partner—helping firms maintain steady cash flow, meet client expectations, and protect trust every step of the way.
